I am so thankful that my family and friends in North Carolina, Georgia and Florida got through all the storms without physical harm. After Helene, the nation was shaken with the horror of it all. Then Milton came along and we all doubled down our prayer efforts. Intercessors of America and many other groups had ongoing prayer around the clock about Milton and it did decrease in severity.
There are times in our life when we can make a choice to be brave; and then there are other times we are forced to be brave or we succumb to fear and breakdown. Bravery does not come easy for some, but I think most of us, when faced with a scary situation, deal with it even if we are shaking inside.
My friends and family members who went through the hurricanes were believers that knew who to call on for help in time of need. Praise God.
Psalm 121 1-2 NIV I lift up my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Courage to me is something you have to pull out of a place deep within yourself. If the well within you is not deep, then it’s going to be pretty hard to do. One of my top ten verses that has got me through some scary situations is Joshua 1:9 NIV “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
One way of filling our emotional and spiritual well, is by the word of God. The way to bring those words to life in a time of difficulty, is by prayer and saying those scriptures out loud.
As I say all the time, this is earth not heaven. It’s going to be unpredictable, painful and messy, but being able to walk with the Lord through it all, makes all the difference in whether we simply survive, or whether we thrive. If we can thrive, then we are able to help others to thrive as well.
“We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.” Martin Luther King Jr.
So let us build up ourselves in the word, the strength, and joy of the Lord; for the days the waves and winds of fear try to overtake and destroy us.
Prayer
Lord, we pray for all that have been affected by hurricanes, flood and fires. Come to their rescue. Send armies of your people to help in many ways. May physical, mental and spiritual restoration come quickly. Hear all our prayers and bring comfort and peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
God Bless
Sally
Beautiful song, be inspired.
Oh how I needed this! I could feel the prayers. At the height of the storm, when I was hearing the trees crashing, I dropped to my knees in prayer. The winds calmed and the eye of the storm passed over. Thank you Jesus for seeing us through! Thank you all for your prayers!
